South African Cricket Team coach Ottis Gibson has said that batsman AB de Villiers will have to "live with the decision that he has made" after the player attempted to come out of retirement a day before South Africa's squad for the Worrld Cup was to be announced.

Cricket South Africa confirmed that de Villiers, regarded as one of the best batsmen, approached Faf du Plessis and Gibson regarding a return after he had retired from international cricket last May. He, however, kept playing T20 leagues.

The decision to include ABD was turned down by the duo.

“I don’t think you should have to beg a guy to play for his country but I did make it clear to him that I thought he was making a bad decision (by retiring last year) and that he could help us win the World Cup,” a clearly irritated Gibson told reporters on Saturday.

“Since he has retired we have won every series we’ve played, and I haven’t had many AB questions. Suddenly we’ve come to the World Cup and we’ve had one bad week, and AB is the saviour.

“But AB has retired. He’s made his decision. We have to live with the decision he has made. He has to live with the decision he has made.”

Gibson further revealed that he found it "strange" that de Villiers wanted to come back after repeatedly stating that he was happy with international retirement.

South Africa have had a disastrous start to the World Cup, losing their first three games. They take on West Indies tomorrow.

First of all if he did want to come back back to the National team, it should have been a couple of months ahead of the World Cup, he’d have had practice with the changing team...it’s pretty saD though, have always been a great fan of Ab De Villiers
