One can't rule out the Australian cricket team when it comes to big tournaments like the World Cup. They are way ahead of all the other cricket playing nations in the number of World titles. The Kangaroos have already bagged as many as five World Cups, including the last one at home.

Meanwhile, despite having had some horrible days on the field during 2018, the Aussies suddenly made an astonishing start to 2019.

The team first defeated India at home and then clean-swept Pakistan at UAE, owning themselves a place in the favourites for World Cup. After constant failures in the last twelve months, they improved in all the three departments all of a sudden. They trounced India at the time when Men in Blue were playing some extra-ordinary cricket and followed with as dominating show against Pakistan.

Batsmen like Usman Khawaja, Aaron Finch, and Shaun Marsh found touch with the bat while as Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa and Jason Behrandorff reflected form with the ball. Moreover, the return of Steve Smith and David Warner ahead of the World Cup has made them even more strong contenders. The duo was banned following the ball-tampering incident, however, both of them made strong comebacks. David Warner notched a huge number of runs in the Indian Premier League, finishing as the highest run-getter while Smith also played some good knocks recently.

Looking at the recent results and the form Aussie players have displayed in the last couple of months, one can assure that this team can go beyond in the tournament. However, how they cruise past hot favorites like England and India will be interesting to see. The Aaron Finch-led faces Afghanistan today in their first World Cup match.

Key Players: David Warner, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis.
