Well, West Indies might not be counted among the favorites to lift the 2019 World Cup, but what they are capable of is hidden to none. The team is full of match-winners and if they get going, other teams could well face the wrath. The 15-member squad led by all-rounder Jason Holder will start the World Cup campaign against Pakistan on May 31 and what they will have to offer in the tournament is quite tough to predict.

There is no denying the fact that this team hasn’t been playing to its potential for a long time now. In a horrible stat, West Indies had last won an ODI series in 2014, while lost 17 others on the trot. However, when one looks at their World Cup squad, it seems the only thing they require is confidence. The likes of ‘Universe Boss’, Chris Gayle, one of the top all-rounders in shorter-format, Andre Russell and young talent, Shannon Gabriel, makes them a team that can fill the boxes despite all the odds.

Apart from these, the team has no dearth of all-rounders. There are as many as five players in the squad who can bat as well as they bowl and vice-versa. The form Andre Russell and Chris Gayle recently displayed in the Indian Premier League also makes the Windies team a lethal one.
Pertinently, there are players like Carlos Brathwaite, Nicholas Pooran, Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer who can find the fence at any period of time. While the presence of strongly-skilled ODI players, Darren Bravo and Shai Hope add the much-needed calmness. In the bowling department, it’s the experience of Kemar Roach and Ashley Nurse and
young energy of Shannon Gabriel, Fabien Allen and Oshane Thomas that will drive the ship for Men in Maroon.

Squad: Jason Holder (c), Evin Lewis, Darren Bravo, Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Nicholas Pooran, Oshane Thomas, Shai Hope (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Fabien Allen, Sheldon Cottrell, Shannon Gabriel, Kemar Roach, Ashley Nurse.

Key Players: Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Shai Hope, Shannon Gabriel.
