Australia, five time World Champions, were humbled when they lost to India by 36 runs at The Oval at London on Sunday. Team India were led by brillant performances from their openers, who stitched 127 runs for the first wicket. Shikhar Dhawan went to get his hundred, while Virat Kohli was out on 82. MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya finished the innings on a high, and gave India a huge target of 353 to defend.

In reply, the bowlers stifled the dangerous Aussie openers, with Jasprit Bumrah taking 3 and Yuzvendra Chahal starring with 2 wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar too took 2 as India bowled Australia for 316.

India have now defeated Australia two times in a World Cup game since the start of 2000, the most by any other team. New Zealand are the only other side to defeat Australia in a World Cup game in this century.
