India took on defending champions Australia in the second game of their World Cup campaign at Kennington Oval, London. Skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to make full use of the batting conditions. After a cautious start, they scored runs at a brisk pace and left the Australian bowlers spoilt for choices. After the fall of Rohit's wicket, Virat Kohli took the responsibility on his own shoulders and ensured that there were no further hiccups. Later, cameos from Hardik Pandya and Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped India post a mammoth total of 352- their fourth highest total in World Cups.

Shikhar Dhawan, playing his second World Cup, smashed his way into the record books by becoming the 3rd Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly to score at least 3 hundreds in World Cup. Overall, it was Shikhar's 17th ODI hundred and 3rd at The Oval. Currently, he has amassed 443 runs in 5 games at this venue, the most by any Non-English batsmen.

2. Rohit Sharma scores 2000 runs against Australia in ODIs:

The swashbuckling Indian opener who made an elegant 57 went past 2000 runs in ODIs against Australia. He became the fourth batsmen after Sachin Tendulkar, Desmond Haynes and Sir Viv Richards to achieve this feat. He achieved this feat in 37 innings, quickest among batsmen who have done so.

3. Most 100 plus partnerships for India in ODIs:

Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma who put on 127 for the first wicket, became the 3rd successful batting pair for India in ODI Cricket.
