Breaking Australia’s ten-match ODI winning streak, the Indian cricket team on Sunday defeated Men in Yellow by 36 runs. The Men in Blue stole the show at Oval by producing a scintillating performance with the bat and followed by a disciplined bowling outing. Australia was completely outplayed in the match with Kohli’s top-four hitting the headlines. Although Aaron Finch and Co also fought quite well, in the end, it was India who got there quite comfortably. Here are some of the top performances which we witnessed in the match.

Shikhar Dhawan’s swashbuckling ton and Kohli’s fiery 82 runs

After India decided to bat first at the flat deck of Oval, openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan made sure to make most of it. The duo though started slowly but accelerated as the inning followed. Dhawan, in particular, was spectacular as he fired a rememberable 117 run-knock.

Virat Kohli followed the solid foundation laid by openers. The swashbuckler played a sublime inning of 82 runs in 77 balls to help India post a big total of 352 runs on board. Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni also contributed handy cameos at the back end of innings.

Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 6-wicket partnership

India made sure to not give it away in the second innings after the brilliant show by batsmen. Seam-bowling duo, Jasprit Bumrah, and Bhuveshwar Kumar bowled in the right areas with the new ball, making it tough for David Warner and Aaron Finch to free their arms. Their economical bowling doubled the pressure in the Australian dressing room, hence helping India run away with a comprehensive win. Both scalped three wickets each.
