Box Office Report: Jungle Book Smashes Records, Scores 2nd Highest Weekend of 2016

The Jungle Book has reportedly pulled off a smashing performance at the Indian ticket-window & how! The audiences across India were given the opportunity to see the film a week ahead of its release in the US and the rest of the world. Along with Hindi, Disney has dubbed the film inTamil, and Telugu.

As per the BO numbers, the film has collected INR Rs 40.19 Cr over the weekend! On Friday, the film earned INR Rs 10.09 Cr, INR Rs 13.51 Cr on Saturday and INR Rs 16.59 on Sunday.

As for the opening, the film has scored the second highest opening weekend in 2016. Interestingly, Sunday (10 April) was the biggest single day for a Hollywood film released in India. The Jungle Book also had the second biggest weekend ever for a Hollywood release in India.

The adventurous film is directed by Jon Favreau and stars 12-year-old Neel Sethi as Mowgli, the boy raised by wolves in the Indian jungle with the help of Baloo the Bear, and Bagheera the Black Panther. For the Hindi language, the lead animal roles are dubbed by ace Bollywood actors Priyanka Chopra, Irrfan Khan, Nana Patekar and Om Puri.
