The movie has registered an average of 35-40% occupancy report but will it be able to surpass the opening day collection of Salman Khan's Tubelight or even Shah Rukh Khan's previous release this year Raees?

We got in touch with trade experts, Atul Mohan and Akshaye Rathi, to discuss further on the opening day collection of JHMS. Both were affirmative of the film touching INR 20 crore mark if the evening shows pickup well.

Speaking about it, Akshaye Rathi said, "Well, the figure that you are hearing of about 35-40% is actually a bit mix because urban centres like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru are over 70% and it is weak in the smaller sections. The film is an urban film and for the urban audience and it is doing good for its target audience. The occupancy will only go up from here. Even in the urban centres, the collections are generally better in the evening shows, so will be the case with this film."

When asked if it would surpass the opening day collection of Tubelight or Raees, he added, "I think it is something to be seen. It entirely depends on how the evening shows play out. One thing is clear that JHMS is surely going to be the movie of this week because while Mubarakan has shows this week, most of them have seen it. This is an urban film, the evening shows are going to be great. I won't be surprised if it does better than recent few releases of Shah Rukh Khan on Day 1. The movie will mint around INR 15-20 crore on Day 1. I am giving you a wide range because I don't know how the evening shows will play out. Current range if you see it should be around INR 16-17 crore but if the evening shows pick up, it could be INR 18-19 or even 20 crores."

Reiterating the industry's view, Atul Mohan said, "35-40% is in the smaller section but in bigger cities and multiplexes the occupancy is around 60-70% which is very good. I just came back from a few cinema houses and the occupancy was around 80-85%."

When asked if JHMS will beat Tubelight or Raees' Day 1 collection, he said, "That's subjective, given the occupancy report. I am looking at around 18-20 crore opening day collection. The response is good, the movie is for multiplex audiences, that is why they have also targeted more multiplexes."

He further added that since  Raksha Bandhan falls on Monday, the film might even touch INR 100 crore target in 4 days.

Tubelight had collected around INR 20.50 crore on Day 1 while Raees had minted around 20.42 crore on Day 1.
