Bollywood and Television veteran actor Alok Nath has been accused of sexual harassment by not one but three women. Tara producer Vinta Nanda opened up about the alleged traumatising incident she faced with Alok and accused him of rape. Alok called it a 'figment of her imagination' in an interview to channels. He also said that he will neither deny nor accept the allegations and that somebody else must have raped her.
When we contacted Mahesh Thakur, who has worked with Alok Nath in Hum Saath Saath Hai and Bidaai among other projects, he said that he knows Nath on the professional front ONLY. "Whatever I have read about Alok Nath, it's sounding very contradictory, I would say. I don't know much about him that way. I know Alok Nath ONLY on the professional working relationship and I haven't come across any such incident on the sets of Hum Saath Saath Hai. If it has happened, I am totally unaware about it."
On the MeToo movement which has been taking over the internet, Mahesh added, "I definitely stand with the women, they should not fear and come and speak their heart out about what has happened but I also believe that a law must be structured in accordance because, in a movement like this, there are a lot of opportunists too who try to dilute the real problem. The genuine ones get hidden because of the opportunists. To find that is the right of the courts."
He stated, "We, in India, forget that everyone has the equal right, be it male or female, and the laws should be made bearing the fundamental rights for both. Nowhere should anyone take an advantage of the laws and the situations. The right thing would be to let the court decide and stronger laws be formed."
When we asked Mahesh to comment on Alok's statement on the matter from Tuesday, he concluded, "Let's not get into the statement made by the fellow actor because I have worked with them. Let the court take its own route as everybody has the right to defend themselves, whatever medium they choose to. We are no one to pass judgement because we have a good functional court. Whoever has to file the complaint, go and file a complaint, put the case on, definitely."
Meanwhile, according to reports, Alok is apparently planning to go to court against the allegations.
