We all remember the iconic chemistry exuded by Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the Bollywood Navratri anthem, Dholi Taro. Now imagine, an entire film based on that setup and you get Loveyatri. From the beginning, Loveyatri feels like the road you should not have taken. Debutant Aayush Sharma's entry is with an energetic dance track which pumps you up and that is the only positive thing I can muster up for the newcomer. Aayush has worked on his 6-pack abs, a terrible tan and dancing skills but the one thing he lacks is acting. On the other hand, we have the stereotypical gorgeous actress Warina Hussain whose glycerine-filled emotions are a major buzzkill. But one thing that the actress has going on is her gorgeous screen presence and the vibrant costumes she has adorned.
The one positive character in the film is ironically named Negative (Pratik Gandhi). His one-liners save the first half and Ram Kapoor earnestly tries to make do with the shoddy screenplay given to us. Both Aayush and Warina are fabulous dancers and the songs sequences give us the perfect Navratri delight but we would have rather watched them in the form of music videos instead.
The first half has been a tiresome Yatra and now is just the beginning. Let's hope we get more than a fake tan and stalker vibes in the second half.
