Nag Ashwin’s upcoming film, Kalki 2898 AD is undeniably one of the most anticipated movies in 2024. The film, which features Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in the lead, is said to be an epic science fiction film.
The film was announced more than three years back and has created quite a buzz due to its star-studded cast, as well as the teaser visuals. In the latest update, the makers of the film have taken to social media to reveal that the film will hit the silver screens on May 9.
They also shared a poster of Prabhas standing underneath what appears to be a spaceship, with the caption: “The story that ended 6000 years ago; Begins May 9th, 2024. The future unfolds”

Prior to the release date being announced on social media, the makers followed quite an innovative style of announcement. The team behind the film dressed people up in what appears to be soldier costumes from the film, who were then asked to stroll in public places holding the poster with the release date.

What we know about Kalki 2898 AD so far
Kalki 2898 AD marks the fourth directorial venture of Nag Ashwin after Yevade Subramanyam, Mahanati, and X-Life (a segment from the anthology film Pitta Kathalu). The film was announced in 2020 with Project K as a working title. It was also revealed that Prabhas would be playing the lead role in the film. Later on, during the 2023 San Diego Comic Con, it was revealed that the film’s official title would be Kalki 2898 AD.
Cast and crew of the film
One of the major attractions of Kalki is its star-studded cast. The film boasts an ensemble cast including Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, Pasupathy, and more in prominent roles apart from the Baahubali actor.
The film’s teaser trailer was released in 2023, which gave a basic glimpse of what could be expected from the film and has garnered highly positive reviews from audiences all over.
Kalki 2898 AD has been bankrolled by C Aswani Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies, and Santhosh Narayanan composed the music for the film. The Serbian cinematographer Djordje Stojiljkovic cranks the film’s camera, while Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao takes care of its editing.
