Deepika Padukone, touted as one of the highest-paid actresses in the world, is an Indian model and actresses. Deepika, born on 5 January 1986 in Copenhagen, is the daughter of famous badminton player, Prakash Padukone. During her childhood in Bangalore, Deepika extensively played Badminton at the national level and also worked as a child model and appeared in a number of advertising campaigns, before she started modeling. At an early stage in her career, Deepika gained recognition as a model and won the ‘Model of the Year’ award at the Kingfisher Fashion Awards. At 21, Padukone shifted to Mumbai from Bangalore and earned widespread recognition after she featured in the music video for Himesh Reshammiya’s song ‘Naam Hai Tera’. In 2006, Deepika made her acting debut in the Kannada film Aishwarya and later, signed her first Bollywood movie, Om Shanti Om. After a series of average movies, Deepika’s career took a turning point when she signed Homi Adajania’s movie Cocktail which earned her critical acclaim.
