The audience has given its judgement and it wasn't in Terminator's favour. It was a dark, dark opening at the box office for Terminator: Dark Fate. Despite the popularity of the Terminator franchise, the James Cameron, Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger reunion has failed to draw audiences to the theatres. As a result, Dark Fate has opened to a poor box office collection in the US. As per Forbes, Dark Fate opened to a disappointing $10.6 million at the US box office.
The opening day collection includes $2.35 million from Thursday night previews. On the international front, the Tim Miller directorial is reportedly heading to a $19.4 million weekend collection in China. With such box office opening numbers, Terminator: Dark Fate is eyeing an opening weekend box office collection of $26.7 million. The numbers are discouraging provided the Terminator: Dark Fate had opened with positive reviews.
While the Terminator fizzled out at the box office, Joker continues to dance on the box office's staircase. The Warner Bros movie has already become the highest-grossing R-Rated movie, beating Deadpool and Deadpool 2 last week. Now, Joker is inching towards the $1 billion mark at the box office.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joker collected $289.5 million domestically while recording $602.3m as of Thursday. The collections tally up to $891.8 million. Box office analysts predict Joker could end its theatrical run with $950 million and it stands a chance to touch the $1 billion milestone as well.
