After the periodic drama, watching Kangana Ranaut play an eccentric character gives the audience a kick they have been missing since long. Judgementall Hai Kya is a tasteful concoction of thriller and comedy, which does leave some seam allowance for perfection. Bollywood scriptwriters have predominantly shown hesitation to flirt with the thriller-comedy genre. But they have made a gutsy attempt, and the film managed to reap the benefits.

The first half of the film keeps you at the edge of the seat with a fair blend of suspense, excitement and engrossing performances by the cast. Of course, Judgementall Hai Kya could have been chopped a bit in the second half as it loses its pace – you can also blame it on the gripping first-half.

The husband-wife duo – scriptwriter, Kanika Dhillon and director, Prakash Rao Kovelamudi – do justice to their task and make the story and the narration crisp and devoid of unnecessary sub-plots that often plague the dark comedy genre. Kanika deserves credit for penning another engaging script after her tryst with complicated love stories- Manmarziyaan and Kedarnath.

Few comedy scenes in first-half lighten up the film. Hussain Dalal is goofy but lovable. The stylists play with minor variations to Kangana and Rajkumar’s appearance, which helps in building the character.
