The much awaited film Kabir Singh, featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani finally hit the screens yesterday. The film is surely facing competition from Ayushmann Khurrana's Article 15. However, standing steady, it has received a mixed response from the critics but a fabulous feedback from the audience. Shahid's performance in the movie is being praised by all. The actor is playing the role of an alcoholic surgeon in the film. While, Kiara is totally opposite to his character as she can be seen in a simple college girl avatar.
Kabir Singh showcases the story of a man who goes into a self-destructive path after his ex marries someone else. The film collected a huge amount of approximately Rs 20 crore on it's first day showing its power. It did well on its third Friday too, bagging a total of Rs 5.25 crores. This takes the business of the film to Rs 215 crores which makes it the 12th highest net grosser of all time.
Talking about the film and his character, Shahid said in a recent interview with PTI, “Nobody else had the guts to play these characters. Maybe because I am my father’s (Pankaj Kapoor) son, I felt the need to play such flawed characters. Acting has made a man of me. You have to learn to take failure on your chin, to take responsibility for your actions, to deal with the very public rejection and failure. You’ve to learn to believe in yourself when no one else does.”
