It came, It gave us the hibbie-jibbies and It conquered the box office. It Chapter 2 released this weekend and it has put up a scarry show at the box office. The It sequel sees the Losers Club all grown up and facing Pennywise once again. The new horror movie opened with good reviews and as a result, It Chapter 2 opened to a phenomenal box office collection in the US. While the collections aren't at par with It, It Chapter 2 has recorded second-best horror bow of all time.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, It Chapter 2 opened to a whopping $91 million in the US. It had collected a whopping $123 million domestically during its opening weekend. The R-Rated sequel collected $94 million from 75 markets, tallying the worldwide box office collection to $185 million. It had recorded an opening weekend collection of $189 million worldwide at the time of its release.
Directed by Andy Muschietti and written by Gary Dauberman, It Chapter 2 was the second movie of the two-part adaptation of the 1987 Stephen King novel. The new horror movie features Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy and show-stealer Bill Hader. Bill Skarsgård returned as the scary clown.
Pinkvilla gave the movie 3.5 stars and wrote, "It's not just another jump-scares fest (which are aplenty); it's so much more! It's not just a stereotypical horror-genre film! Its subtext includes psychological thriller, comedy, drama and romance. You're so invested in The Losers Club, at the very beginning that when you reach the end, it's like a sweet surrender."
