Shahid Kapoor is fighting for electricity in his latest outing, Batti Gul Meter Chalu. This Shree Narayan Singh directorial sees the actor play the role of a lawyer for the first time and the cast also includes Shraddha Kapoor as Shahid's love interest, Divyendu Sharma as Shahid's friend and Yami Gautam as the opposition lawyer. Batti Gul Meter Chalu has been receiving good reviews with many even applauding Shahid's earnest performance. The movie also had a good Opening Day collection of Rs 6.25 crore approx.
Now, the Day 2 collections are out and according to Box Office India, the film had a limited growth of 15-20 percent as it collected Rs 7.25 crore approx. According to production house figures, Batti Gul Meter Chalu's Day 2 box office collection is Rs 7.96 crore. The total collections now stand at Rs 13.50 crore (Friday - Rs 6.25 crore and Saturday - Rs 7.25 crore) (Production House figures - Rs 14.72 crore). It is quite possible that Shahid and Shraddha's film could cross the double digits today and that will ensure decent business on the weekdays as well.

Meanwhile, in an EXCLUSIVE interview with Pinkvilla, Shahid spoke candidly about Batti Gul Meter Chalu and said, "I feel very fortunate that this film came to me and I could participate in it. I have done a couple of films that dealt with social issues like Haider and Udta Punjab. Well, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is more accessible and is for families."
"It's commercial too at the same time but at its heart, it's very relevant and it needs to be spoken about. I remember when I read the climax, it made me cry and I realized that being a big city kid, I am a part of this problem," Shahid added.
