The multi-starrer space film Mission Mangal hit the theatres about two weeks ago and is still holding pretty well at the box office. The film features Akshay Kumar, Sharman Joshi, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Nithya Menen, Sharman Joshi and Kirti Kulhari. Fans got very eager to watch the film after watching the interesting trailers. Akshay Kumar plays the role of a senior scientist in the film based on Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) scientists who worked on the space mission named Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM).
According to Box Office India, Mission Mangal did pretty good business on its second Monday as it collected Rs 3.75 crore nett. The drop has increased from its second Friday but the collections jumped high due to Janmashtami holiday. The drop from last Monday is just 55% which is strong trend. The weekend probably became an advantage for the film and boosted collections by around Rs 5-6 crore nett.
The film's total collection is Rs 164 crore nett till date and still stands strong. The second week business of the film is expected to be around Rs 48 crore nett which is an excellent second week total. The film has now also become the highest grossing Akshay Kumar film in Mysore with collections around to Rs 9.50 crore nett. It has beaten the Rs 9.01 crore nett of Airlift. Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal is India’s first film to showcase a space mission which was successfully launched. Akshay Kumar has dedicated this film to celebrate the women of India.
