Most of the times, movies which are sequels to a super hit movie, tend to already have an audience. The fans are excited to watch the sequel and what happens next. However, this might not be true about Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra starrer Namaste England. The movie was a sequel to the 2007 Namastey London that starred Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. The movie released last week on Thursday.
However, despite releasing on a partial holiday, the movie was off to a slow start. The duo of Arjun and Parineeti were seen together after quite some time. They had debuted together in Ishaqzaade in 2012 and, now, were coming together to play Jasmeet and Param in Namaste England. However, even after all the promotions, their chemistry failed to hold the audience over the weekend. The weekend Box Office collection was of Rs 3 Crores over the weekend. The total box office collection after the release to the weekend was above Rs 6 Crores.
Despite following all the formulas for a hit, the story of the couple Jasmeet and Param didn’t create the magic in front of the audience. Also, it wasn’t able to take advantage of the extended festive weekend. The movie clashed with Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra starrer Badhaai Ho which performed really well at the box office. The trailer of Namaste England and songs also didn’t really impress the audience. It will be interesting to see in the coming week, if Namaste England improves at the box office.
