As the world celebrated the festival of Diwali yesterday, Bollywood films that released prior to the festival did good business. One of the films that released last Friday was the multistarrer Housefull 4. Starring Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Riteish Deshmukh, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Kriti Kharbanda, Housefull 4 is the fourth instalment in the franchise and is a reincarnation comedy. The film had been promoted quite actively by the stars and it was the talk of the town.
Coming to the box office collection, since Housefull 4 released on Diwali, it was one of the highly anticipated films of 2019. Akshay Kumar starrer earned Rs 14.25 Crore on Diwali day and ended up crossing the Rs 50 Crore mark in just 3 days of its release. Housefull 4 earned well in Mumbai and Southern regions on Diwali. However, in the North, it suffered a minor drop. On Day 1 and Day 2, Housefull 4 earned Rs 19 Crore and Rs 18 Crore which is consistent and good.
It will be interesting to see how the film fares on the first Monday post Diwali. It is a Holiday on Monday and hence, the word of mouth will impact the box office as well. The other two films that released include Made In China and Saand Ki Aankh. The trailer of Housefull 4 featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Chunky Panday, Johnny Lever as well and it promised to be a laughter riot.
