EXCLUSIVE: Prabhas’ Adipurush makers to start rebuilding set after the fire break; burnt costumes being remade

A massive chroma and green screen setup had been destroyed in the fire that broke earlier this month. Besides Prabhas, Adipurush also features Saif Ali Khan in the lead

Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan starrer Adipurush had gone on the floors earlier this month with a test shoot at a studio in Goregaon west. A massive chroma and green screen setup had been erected and the leading men were scheduled to join the unit in a few days. However, the shooting had to be halted after fire broke out on sets and the setup had been burnt to ashes. Reportedly, no one was hurt as all the fire safety measures were in place.

Now, Pinkvilla has learnt that makers are on the lookout for another studio to rebuild the set up. The team is working overtime to get back on the original schedule. “Rebuilding the chroma setup will begin in a few days. Besides the set, some camera equipments and a lot of costumes were also destroyed. However, Adipurush’s costume design team is working hard to remake the costumes and match the schedule,” informs a source close to the development. Director Om Raut will resume shooting from February itself, as everything is under control.

The mishap happened because of a short circuit, but the fire brigade had reached the sets on time to handle the situation. Saif Ali Khan is reuniting with Om Raut for Adipurush after first working together on Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. His character is inspired by Raavan, while Prabhas’s role is modelled on Lord Ram. Meanwhile, the makers are still on the lookout for the actress to play Sita.

Adipurush is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair. It will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
