The movie Dhamaka follows the story of Arjun Pathak (Kartik Aaryan), a well-known prime-time TV reporter for Bharosa 24x7. He's married to Saumya Mehra Pathak (Mrunal Thakur), and everything seems to be going smoothly. However, due to a negative incident, he was demoted to a radio jockey position at Radio Bharosa. Additionally, Arjun's marriage with Saumya is in the process of ending as they're going through a divorce. One morning, during his radio show, Arjun receives a call from an unknown man named Raghubeer Mhata (Soham Majumdar). Raghubeer claims that he's planted a bomb on Mumbai's Sea Link bridge. Arjun thinks it's a prank call and ends the conversation, but seconds later, there's a loud explosion, and a part of the bridge blows up. Raghubeer calls again, and this time, he wants to talk. Arjun is frightened and calls the police, but decides to use this as an opportunity to regain his position as a prime-time news anchor. He asks Raghubeer to wait, calls his boss Ankita and tells her about the situation. Ankita assures him that he can go on air with the story. They set up a temporary studio in the radio station and Arjun starts talking to Raghubeer. Raghubeer demands an apology from the minister Jaydev Patil or else he'll set off more bombs. He also tells Arjun that there's a bomb in his earpiece and threatens to detonate it if he moves from his seat. Arjun discovers that Saumya is on the Sea Link covering the story. Another explosion occurs, putting Saumya and everyone else in danger. The rest of the film follows what happens next.
