EXCLUSIVE: Shweta Pandit says no amount of apology from Anu Malik can bring back my growing up years
Singer Shweta Pandit has accused Anu Malik of misconduct and has called him 'sexual predator' and 'pedophile' in her Me Too story.
After Sona Mohapatra, singer Shweta Pandit has accused Anu Malik of sexual misconduct. She shared her Me Too story on her Twitter account. She has called Anu Malika a ‘sexual predator’ and a ‘pedophile’. Shweta has shared that in the year 2000 she was launched as a lead singer and was the youngest singer in the Indian Music industry then. After the success of her debut song, she was trying to get other good songs when she got a call from Anu Malik’s then manager. She was asked to meet him at Empire Studio in 2001.
She shares that all of 15, she went to the studio with her mother. Anu Malik was recording a song with Sunidhi Chauhan and Shaan for Awara Pagal Deewana then. He asked Shweta to wait in a small cabin where singers sang. “It was just him and me there,” she has written. He asked her to sing something as voice test and then he said, “I ll give you this song with Sunidhi and Shaan but first give me a kiss now.” Shocked with what she had heard, Shweta went numb and pale. She recounts that she referred to him as ‘Anu Uncle’ and he knew her whole family.
“It was the worst experience of my life and I could never speak about it even to my parents. I could never ask for any help to heal but was depressed for months. I cried endlessly after this incident and it affected my psyche as a young girl,” Shweta has written.
Shweta spoke to us exclusively from Italy where she has now settled. When asked if she wants Anu Malik to apologies, she said, “No amount of apology will bring back my crucial years of growing up..I had gone into a depression, meri childhood ki vaat laga di thi.”
