The movie Luka Chuppi narrates the tale of a couple who live together with their respective families. The plot thickens when the famous actor Nazim Khan, played by Abhinav Shukla, lands in a scandal after revealing that he is also living with his girlfriend and has no qualms about it. The society's self-appointed guardians, also known as moral police, are outraged by his behavior and protest against it. Among these organizations is the Rashtriya Sanskriti Manch, led by Vishnu Trivedi, portrayed by Vinay Pathak, in Mathura. Rashmi, played by Kriti Sanon, is Trivedi's daughter, and after completing her media studies in Delhi, she joins a local news channel. In Luka Chuppi, Rashmi moves back to Mathura after completing her media studies in Delhi, and there she meets Guddu. The two of them fall in love with each other. Guddu has an elder unmarried brother and a brother-in-law, with whom he fights, and then he decides to marry Rashmi as soon as possible. However, Rashmi refuses to marry him so quickly and suggests a live-in relationship. Guddu is initially taken aback by the idea, but then he and Rashmi, inspired by their colleague Abbas, decide to live together during a 20-day assignment in Gwalior where they are not known by anyone. To continue their live-in relationship without any problems, Guddu and Rashmi decide to pretend to be a married couple while renting a flat in Gwalior for their 20-day assignment. Rashmi even has to wear a mangal sutra and apply sindoor to keep up the facade. However, things take a turn when Babulal catches them getting intimate in public, assumes they are married, and informs his family. Soon enough, everyone lands up at their place in Gwalior, and what happens next forms the crux of the movie.
