EXCLUSIVE: Randeep Hooda’s character origin story from Extraction in the works; Details inside
Randeep Hooda played the lead alongside Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth in Extraction, which released last year. A prequel to the international film revolving around Randeep’s character is being developed.
One of the most celebrated films of 2020 was Joe Russo and Anthony Russo’s Extraction, which featured Chris Hemsworth, Randeep Hooda, Pankaj Tripathi and Rudraksh Jaiswal in the lead. Backed by Netflix, the film revolved around a mission to rescue a drug lord's kidnapped son and both Chris and Randeep’s performances in the movie were widely applauded. Now Pinkvilla has a new update on this international action-thriller. A source close to the development informs that the makers are now planning to expand the Extraction universe.
We have learnt that a prequel revolving around Hooda’s character from Extraction is in the works. In the original, the actor had played Saju Rav, a former Para (Special Forces) operator and a close associate of Ovi Mahajan Sr. played by Tripathi. “The makers are working on expanding the Extraction universe with multiple characters and stories. One of the ideas which is currently being developed is Randeep Hooda’s character origin story. It will track Saju Rav’s life from the beginning. Randeep too has liked the idea and has shown keen interest in the film,” informs a source close to the development. 
The informer further adds that the development is in the nascent stage and it will be a while before the film goes on floors. Meanwhile besides Extraction, Randeep Hooda was recently seen in Mira Nair’s TV series, A Suitable Boy. He will next be seen in the Prabhudheva directed Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai alongside Salman Khan and Disha Patani. This will be Randeep and Salman’s third film together after Kick (2014) and Sultan (2016).
