Indian actor Danny Denzongpa was born on 25th February, 1948, in a Buddhist family in Sikkim. He did his schooling from Nainital and later studied at St. Joseph's College in Darjeeling. From a very young age, he was involved in horse riding and horse breeding as his family was in the same business. Apart from that, he is also a painter, writer and sculptor. Danny wanted to join the Indian Army and also qualified for the Armed Forces Medical College. However, he joined the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. After completing his acting course, he started his career with the film, Zaroorat. He got his first major break with Gulzar's Mere Apne in 1971. Later in 1973, he was seen in B.R. Chopra's Dhundh in which he played the role of a crippled and frustrated husband. Apart from that, he worked in films like Chor Machaye Shor, 36 Ghante, Fakira, Kaala Sona, Devata, Aashiq Hoon Baharon Ka, Paapi, etc. Danny Denzongpa has also played many negative roles for which he became very popular among filmmakers and audiences. He received many offers to play negative characters and was seen opposite actors like Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Vinod Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Sunny Deol, etc. Some of his successful negative characters are from films like Bandish, Phir Wahi Raat, Dharm Aur Qanoon, Oonche Log, Aandhi Toofan, Pukar, etc. Apart from his acting career, Danny has also tried singing and has worked with legends like Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle. In 1980, he made his debut as a director with the film, Phir Wahi Raat in which he was also seen as an actor. Apart from Bollywood, Danny has also worked in other language films such as Nepali, Bengali and Tamil. Meanwhile, talking about his personal life, Danny's marriage came as a surprise. He was reportedly dating actresses like Parveen Babi and Kim Yashpal. However, he shocked everyone after getting married to Gawa Denzongpa who is a princess from a Sikkimese dynasty of rulers. They have a son named Rinzing, who is also an aspiring actor, and daughter Pema.
