Kabir Singh Box Office Collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor starrer registers second biggest occupancy of 2019
Kabir Singh releases today. The Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer is the official remake of the Telugu movie Arjun Reddy.
Shahid Kapoor returns to the big screen in and as Kabir Singh this weekend. Shahid features in the remake of Arjun Reddy, a hit Telugu movie. Shahid plays Vijay Deverakonda from Arjun Reddy in the Sandeep Vanga Reddy directorial. The trailer was released a few weeks ago and fans went gaga over it. Shahid comes to the big screen in a never-before-seen role and it has generated curiosity among fans. Kabir Singh has been tracking a Rs 10 crore opening on Day 1 and given the occupancy report, it seems like Kabir Singh is living up to the expectations. As per reports, Kabir Singh has registered a great opening in terms of occupancy.
Box Office India reports that Kabir Singh has opened with an occupancy of about 50 percent on its first day. The site reports that the movie has recorded the "second biggest opening of the year in terms of occupancy." The report reveals that although the collection in metros are good, it is the collections outside the metro cities that are remarkable. The movie has opened "excellent" in markets like Surat, Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur, Ajmer and Latur. "For a Shahid Kapoor film the collections are simply insane as you need big stars to open in these areas while Shahid Kapoor is more like a mini star," the report states. 
The movie's hype in among masses and youth beyond urban set ups is reportedly huge. This has reflected upon the initial collections. That's not all. Kabir Singh has opened well in the single screens as well. BOI adds, "The potential of the film is huge with this sort of start in mass pockets as the metro multiplexes which may be lacking will come up on Saturday. Due to the craze in mass pockets the footfalls of this film on the opening day will be far higher than most films and on top there is no holiday ticket pricing which has been the case with most big films this year."
The Sandeep Vanga Reddy directorial releases in approximately 3100 screens. The movie releases amidst mixed reviews. Pinkvilla gave the movie three stars.
