Tadap is a movie that follows the story of a man named Ishana, played by Ahan Shetty, who is deeply in love and obsessed with a girl named Ramisa. He lives in Mussoorie with his adopted father, who is referred to as Daddy and is a trusted associate of Damodar Nautiyal, a political figure running in state elections. The movie begins with Ishana chasing down a member of Damodar's political party in Mussoorie, and inflicting serious injuries on him. However, when Damodar is asked to file a complaint, he declines. After Ishana is released from detention, Daddy picks him up and advises him to establish his multiplex business outside of Mussoorie, but Ishana refuses. Throughout the movie, Ishana is constantly thinking about Ramisa and their past together. Ramisa arrived in Mussoorie from London three years ago to live with her father, Damodar, and her grandmother. During the elections, Damodar wins by 1000 votes. Ishana, Daddy, and Ramisa cross paths during the celebrations outside Damodar's house. Later that night, while having dinner, the lights go out, and Damodar asks Ishana to bring Ramisa's grandmother to the dinner table. Instead, Ishana takes Ramisa with him. Ramisa and Ishana begin to flirt with each other during dinner and continue to do so the following day. Ishana's friend, Lol, suspects that he is seeing someone and gets him to admit that he is seeing Ramisa. They continue to spend more time together and share kisses. Daddy also starts to suspect that Ishana is in a relationship with someone. Ishana confesses to Daddy that he is madly in love with Ramisa and that she feels the same way about him. He urges Daddy to talk to Damodar about their marriage, but Daddy says that he will do so when the timing is right. Ishana and Ramisa visit her house and Ishana talks to Ramisa about getting married. Ramisa agrees to speak to her father about it and kisses Ishana before leaving. However, Damodar witnesses their exchange and decides to intervene. Together with Ramisa's grandmother, they made up their minds to separate the couple and teach Ishana a lesson. What follows next forms the remaining plot of the movie.
