One of the upcoming socially relevant films, Mere Pyare Prime Minister is helmed by Bhaag Milkha Bhaag director, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The film revolves around a little slum boy who along with his friends wants to meet the Prime Minister of the country to talk about what happened with his mother. The movie’s trailer was intriguing and surely promised a good story in the form of a socially relevant film. While the official release of the film is still away, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra held a special screening.

The screening was held at Chandigarh for his dear friend and the Flying Sikh, Milkha Singh and his family. On the screening, Milkha Singh along with his family was present. Apart from him,  Sunil Gavaskar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Kartik Murali and Kirron Kher also were in attendance of the screening. They all watched the film together and showered their praises post the screening. Since Rakeysh shares a special friendship with Milkha Singh due to the previous film based on his life, he wanted him to see the film.

Post the screening, Kirron Kher, Sunil Gavaskar and Milkha Singh were left emotional and speechless. They all praised the film and were left in awe of the performances by the little kids in the film. Sunil Gavaskar shared, “It’s a very lovely film. Everyone has acted really well, especially the kid - Om. He has won my heart. The movie carries a great and important message about the necessity of having a toilet. We never realize the problems of people living in the slums and I really hope this film spreads the message across the nation. We already have toilets building up in the nation since quite years.. and I wish the same continues through the film’s message for the sanity and safety of our citizens.”

On the other hand, Milkha Singh also was full of praises for the film and said, “The film’s idea is very emotional and touching.. Rakeysh Mehra is my favourite director and the way he depicts the storyline in a movie.. just like Rang De Basanti and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag which went onto becoming blockbusters and loved by the audiences.. Same way I wish and hope people give the love and acceptance that Mere Pyare Prime Minister deserves.” Helmed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the film is the story of a boy who struggles to make an appeal to the Prime Minister of India raising the issue of open defecation after his mother gets raped. It stars Anjali Patil, Makarand Deshpande, Rasika Agashe, Sonia Albizuri, and Nachiket Purnapatre. Mere Pyare Prime Minister is slated to release on March 15, 2019.
