Kabir Khan and Salman Khan's combination has failed to entice the audience with their third outing Tubelight. On the fifth day of its release, the movie earned INR 11.75 crore, which is almost half of its first day collections.

Surprisingly, the movie performed lesser than expected on Eid, which is rare for a Salman Khan film. According to a trade site, Tubelight is performing poor in most places. The five day total of Tubelight stands at INR 93 crore. However, even in five days, the movie hasn't crossed the coveted INR 100 crore mark.

Reportedly, the falls are huge in parts of the country where there is no Eid advantage. Going by the current trend, Tubelight will collect around INR 106-107 crore nett, which is not good.

Shah Rukh Khan's Raees was the biggest grosser of 2017 as the movie earned INR 128.77 crore if only Hindi films are considered. Salman Khan film was expected to race ahead of that record. But that looks dicey now and the Friday collections will tell us the exact status.

Directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Salman Khan Films, Tubelight also stars Chinese actor Zhu Zhu, Sohail Khan, Matin Rey Tangu and late Om Puri in pivotal roles. It released on June 23, 2017.

During a recent interaction with the media at an event, Salman was asked about the low rating that Tubelight got from the critics. To this, he said, "The critics were really good. I was expecting minus 3 and minus 4 but they gave 1, 1.5 apparently, so I am very pleased, As per reports, people are saying they can not see Bhai (Salman) crying. So I asked, are they (audience) laughing and the answer was “no, they are crying”. So I said don’t worry about it."

He further added, "As it is an Eid release, people have preconceived notions and plans to throw coins, sing and dance at the cinema hall. So they have gone to watch a certain film but get to watch another film. This film is not of a kind which you watch with your buddies as you will not get an opportunity to dance or have fun. It is a very emotional film. Even an emotionless, stone hearted person will get tears in his eyes. So this is an emotional film to be seen with parents, grandparents and the entire family.”
