If there is one film which broke the box office record of being the highest opener of 2019, then it is none other than Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer Kesari. The story of Havildar Ishar Singh and his battalion surely left the audiences intrigued. The way 21 Sikh soldiers fought valiantly with the 10,000 Afghan invaders moved the audiences and Akshay Kumar’s role of a Sikh soldier has been highly praised. The film also got rave audience reviews and opened on a good note.

Akshay plays Havildar Ishar Singh who manages to bring together the young bunch of under motivated soldiers and is able to motivate them to fight against the forces of the Afghan Army till dusk. Talking about the box office collection of Kesari, it earned a massive amount on the opening day of Rs 21 crores which broke all the records and made it the biggest opener of 2019. On the other hand, Kesari box office collection of day 2 also was outstanding.

Kesari locked in Rs 17 crores at the box office on day 2 and managed to make the audiences salute the sacrifice of the valiant soldiers. The movie did see a drop from day 1 as the figure went down from Rs 21 crores to Rs 17 crores. However, releasing it on a holiday and festival will surely give the film an advantage of the extended weekend. Kesari’s business is expected to pick up over the weekend due to the holidays. Helmed by Anurag Singh, Kesari is an epic portrayal of the Battle of Saragarhi which is a missing chapter in our history and many are still unaware of it.
