Petta vs Viswasam Box Office Day 1: Rajinikanth and Ajith starrers give a tough competition
Rajinikanth’s Petta and Thala Ajith’s Viswasam are getting a huge response at the Box Office. Check out how much both the films have earned on day one.
Rajinikanth’s Petta and Thala Ajith’s Viswasam released at the box office on the same day. Petta and Viswasam both were the much anticipated Tamil films of the week. While Petta is doing good in the international markets, Viswasam is setting box office on fire with its immense response in Tamil Nadu. According to trade expert Ramesh Bala, Viswasam has got a better opening than Petta in Tamil Nadu. Viswasam, also starring Nayanthara has collected 26.7 crores on Day 1 in Tamil Nadu and this is quite huge.
On the other hand, Rajinikanth starrer has earned Rs 1.10 crore, while Viswasam has raked in Rs 80 lakh in Chennai on Day 1. Both the films are expected to continue its dream run at the box office over the first weekend. Meanwhile, Petta is ruling international market like a boss. In the USA, Petta (Tamil & Telugu) has done a business of $133K from 194 locations, while Vishwasam has done a total business of $18K from 71 Locations. Check out tweets below:

On the other hand, the genre of Viswasam is quite different and director Siva has come up with a new concept. The entertainer sees Thala Ajith in a double role, which is one of the highlights.
