20 tips to look posh and elegant on a budget

Everyone likes to look and feel like a princess, but hey, who has the money for that right? Well, here are some tips for the broke girl to look fab 

1. Find your style 

The foundation to look expensive is to find your style! Take a cue from Audrey Hepburn, Kate Winslet and more. 

2. Nails

Nails can make any girl look classy. Chipped, crooked and dirty nails leave a bad impression. Hence, always have your nails medium-sized and filed nicely. Always try to stick to pastel shades of nail polish. 

3. Statement Sunnies 

It is very important that you go and find that one pair of sunglasses that flatter your face nicely. It does not have to be designer glasses, simply find the ones that are classic and suit your face. 

4. Have one good classic wrist watch 

The one piece of accessory that goes with everything is a classic watch! It can be a gold or silver watch. Try to look for a classic watch and invest in it.

5. Diamond Studs 

Whenever you see someone dressed posh, you will always notice they are either wearing a pair of classic diamond or pearl studs. This does not mean you need a real diamond, it can be a fake that looks close to real and it gives you instant elegance. 

6. Have a signature scent 

Something classy ladies always have in common is a signature scent, that is distinctively you and the scent instantly reminds people of you. 

7. Neutral colour 

Nudes, shades of pastels and hues of classic browns are easy to style, wear and never look wrong. These shades fit all tastes, all styles and make clothes look expensive. Also, monochromatic outfits make you look chicer and are always flattering. 

8. Simple makeup 

When was the last time you saw a princess or a diplomat or anyone who is associated with elegance wearing too much dramatic makeup? Never right? Because they like moderation in everything.

When in doubt and if you want to dress something up, wear a red lip. However, it is very important to know which red suits your skin tone.

Structured clothing makes you look pimped up. If you wear a blazer, trousers or pencil skirts it will instantly make you look posh. Hence, simply go for stuff that has a less flowy silhouette to it.

The loose, oversized and anti-fit outfits look amazing, but, as soon as you belt it, it adds more structure to your figure and makes you look chic. Loose outfits can sometimes look borrowed, especially ones that droop from the shoulders. 

12. Tuck your shirt in 

You could be wearing skinny jeans and a simple shirt but as soon as you tuck it in you look more polished. Throw a nice belt on for bonus points.

Pointy Shoes also always look classy. However, always try them before purchasing them as these tend to be a bit smaller in size and may cause discomfort. 

14. Ironed clothes 

You could have the most expensive Chloe top, but if it is crushed and not ironed it will end up looking shabby and tacky. 

15. Dainty Jewellery 

Too much of anything can make you look OTT and tacky. It does not matter if your jewellery is artificial or real, wear it right, wear it as if it is the real thing and make it look pretty and priceless. Minimalism goes a long way. 

16. Hair 

Neat or well-styled hair always make you look polished. Even if you don't have makeup on. If your hair looks good, you will look better and more put-together. 

17. Match your shoes with your bag 

Matching does not always mean in colour, you can pair them in the material such as leather and leather or the same print or fabric. 

18. Replace your buttons 

If you bought something that looks tailored on you, looks classy and is in a neutral colour, but the buttons look cheap, then it can ruin the look. Simply change the buttons add some classy, gold and expensive looking ones and you will look FAB! 

19. Mind your manners

Now we are not suggesting you change yourself for anyone, but when was the last time you saw a princess sit with her legs wide apart. Learning a few etiquettes never hurt anyone. 

20. Live your dream 

Simply play the role of the person you wish to be and the rest will follow. Even if that means ditching your torn cotton PJs and sleeping in plush silk robes even if no one is watching. 

It does not matter whether you have the money for it or not you can still look classy and fab AF.
