Sony TV's popular show Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi might have gone off air but the show left a mark of its own with its unconventional content.

With Shaheer Sheikh [Dev Dixit] and Erica Fernandez [Sonakshi Bose] in the lead, the show questioned the gender biases, challenging the stereotypes associated with the inter-caste marriage in every way possible. This is perhaps what set KRPKAB apart from other shows. It opened a fresh debate on gender roles while not compromising with its entertainment quotient.

As the news of it going off air broke several hearts, we got in touch with Shaheer for a quick interview, wherein the actor spoke about the show, his camaraderie with Erica Fernandez, his upcoming projects and much more.

Here's an excerpt from the interview:

1. KRPKAB was one path-breaking show, how was your experience working on it?

When I was offered the show, I wasn't sure if I should do a daily soap, but today I am more than happy that I did this show. Not only because this show did well but also because I am proud to be part of such a beautiful concept.

2. Even while the show was doing well, low TRPs remained a matter of concern. Did it affect you that despite much appreciation, the TRPs didn't pick up?

Not really. It was the most talked about the show and everyone I spoke to loved it. That's what matters for me.

3. Fans were shocked to hear that the show was going off air. Did it come as a shock to you too?

No, because people were talking about it much before the decision was taken.

4. The show had a very mature take on gender bias and relationships in general. How much did you resonate with the story?

I have been told by guys who are married that the problems we highlighted in our show are the actual problems faced by a married man. So I guess it teaches all of us something.

5. Did you ever have any creative difference with your writers over the content?

Sometimes but I guess that was because everyone was so involved in the show including me.

6. Erica had in an earlier interview said that she had apprehensions about playing a mother on screen. Did you have any such apprehensions as well?

Not really I was ok with it.

7. How much of Shaheer did you put in Dev?

I have no idea, once I start living a character I tend to forget myself. So I don't know really.

8. What was your favourite moment from the show?

I wouldn't say favourite moment but when the letters started coming in and people started telling us how much they love the show and connect with the show, that was the best part.

9. Pros and cons of being an actor?

People love You and pray for you from different parts of the world. But there is no social life and you can't actually judge people or make new friends.

10. You had been juggling with a lot of work back home and in Indonesia. It even garnered you some backlash from fans. How difficult was it?

I don't think so. I feel they felt bad for me that I was working so hard. They were concerned I guess. I had some prior commitment and kuch rang... also going on so I had to do that.

11. Your chemistry with Erica Fernandez was widely appreciated. How was it working with her?

Erica is an amazing actor and even better co-star. It was good to have somebody sensible and mature on the sets.

12. You have been constantly linked to your co-stars, the latest being Erica. Does it affect your camaraderie with them?

Not really I think I am getting used to it now.

13. Does it affect you when media write about your personal life, given that you prefer being a reserved person?

I don't mind if what they write about me has some truth in it. Pure imagination makes me feel sad about the whole thing.

14. Your fans will miss you on TV. What are your upcoming projects? What kind of stories are you keen on doing?

A lot of subjects are untouched by the Indian Television. I feel the need to make something more real and more relatable that's it.

15. Given that you have this crazy female fan following, has there been any crazy fan moment which you remember?

So many cases but I don't think I should be telling this to everyone because that inspire more people to do such things which I don't want. Putting urself in danger just to meet me or talk to me is not a sensible idea. I have a message for all the birdies who try to get in touch with people online who they think might help them to meet me or give my personal information. That will never happen don't believe anything anyone tells u on social media about me because not even my parents know what I am up to.

16. How is Shaheer like in real-life?

Complex and mysterious.

17. Whom will you miss the most from the show?

I am gonna be in touch with almost everyone. But I will miss the sets the most because that's where I will not be able to go again. Dev's room, Sonakshi's house. Beautiful memories!

One of the best and straight forward interview. Please do bring back KRPKAB. We really miss it. All good shows have to come to an end but not this way. The abrupt end was not accepted by fans. We would love to watch KRPKAB season 2 with same star cast and team.

Kuch Rang will remember as the greatest indian show ever made on indian television. Thank you Shaheer for playing the character of Dev so perfectly. You and Erica look so natural together. Will miss Devakshi. Good luck in your future projects. Hope, we will see you soon in another indian show. Hopefully, Kuch Rang part 2 with the same cast and team.

The way krpkb made off the air has obviously disheartened us. After airing of krpkb I think I have not seen any other daily soap in TV. This is the way the show has connected to me. Any way, I will miss each and every member of krpkb.
