Whenever we talk about the Indian cricket team, one name that always becomes part of our living-room discussions is Mahendra Singh Dhoni and there’d be hardly any cricket or non-cricket lover who’d not praise this cricketer. Be it Test matches, ODI or IPL, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a master of all trades and currently, Dhoni, as he is fondly called, is the captain of Chennai Super Kings. In 2015, Dhoni was ranked 23rd among the top 100 highest paid athletes in the world. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born in July 1981, in Ranchi, Jharkhand to Devaki Devi and Pan Singh. 

Talking about his education, Dhoni went to Jharkand’s DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir school and he was very good in sports- especially football and badminton. Later, he joined the South Eastern Railways as a traveling ticket examiner and from 2001 to 2003, Dhoni worked at the Kharagpur railway station. After playing junior cricket, Dhoni played in the Ranji Trophy and in 2003, he became a part of India A team making his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2004-2005. In 2007, he became the captain of the Indian cricket team and won the 2007 ICC World T20. Thereafter, in 2011, he won the ICC World Cup by defeating Sri Lanka in the final. Besides winning a galaxy of matches for the team, Dhoni has a host of awards to his credit such as Padma Shri, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and Padma Bhushan. In 2011, De Montfort University conferred him with an honorary doctorate degree. Apart from cricket, Dhoni has a lot of brand endorsements and talking about his net worth, as of 2019, the cricketer, reportedly, has got a net worth of over $150 million (1100 Crore Indian Rupees)

Businessman: Besides cricket, Dhoni is a successful businessman as he is the co-owner of Ranchi based Hockey club Ranchi Rays and also owns Chennai based Football club- Chennaiyin FC. Besides, Dhoni has also partnered with South Indian film superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna and has also brought a Supersport World Championship team named Mahi Racing Team India. Dhoni also owns a hotel named Hotel Mahi Residency in Jharkhand and also has 200 gyms across the country under the name SportsFit.
