EXCLUSIVE: ‘There will be Special Ops 2.5, Special Ops 3.5 & so on,’ says actor Muzamil Ibrahim

Neeraj Pandey and Shivam Nair directed Special Ops released in March 2020 and instantly became an audience favourite. May be which is why the makers recently announced a 3-episode mini series called Special Ops 1.5 which largely revolves around Kay Kay Menon’s character Himmat Singh, who is a part of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). In the first season, Singh recruits 5 undercover agents who help him on a mission. They were played by Muzamil Ibrahim, Karan Tacker, Vipul Gupta, Meher Vij and Saiyami Kher.

Now while speaking exclusively to Pinkvilla, Muzamil revealed that the makers of Special Ops are in the process of creating multiple franchises for the show. “Just like the Marvel universe, they are creating a world of Special Ops as well. The idea is that the existing agents will take the franchise forward. So there will be Special Ops 2.5, Special Ops 3.5 and so on that will revolve around the central characters of the show. Though I am not sure if those will be a prequel or a sequel, as that is still being panned out. But just like in season 1, the agents will continue going on bigger missions in the subsequent seasons too,” informs the model-turned-actor.

Muzamil further adds that he hadn’t expected the show to become so big when he had started shooting for it in 2019. “I didn’t know it would be as big. There are so many talents out there who are not getting good parts in films maybe because of the dependency on star kids and connections. Also, the roles that were coming to me were not very exciting, and I didn’t want to do TV as creatively it doesn’t really stimulate me. So I think OTT came at the right time and bridged the gap between films and talented artists,” adds Muzamil further informing that Special Ops season 2 should roll by the end of 2021 or beginning of 2022.

Elaborating on Special Ops 1.5, Neera Pandey had recently told Pinkvilla, “Following the feedback on Special Ops, we felt that there should be another interesting way to tell the story moving forward. There were a lot of story options, but the one that caught my attention was the way the audience responded to the 2001 portion of Kay Kay’s (Menon) character.”
