EXCLUSIVE Box Office Prediction: Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar VS Ajay Devgn's Golmaal Again, who will reign supreme on Diwali?
Here's what trade experts have to say about the clash between Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar and Ajay Devgn's Golmaal Again.
This Diwali week, we will be seeing the clash between two big movies - Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar and Ajay Devgn's Golmaal Again.
When it comes to Secret Superstar, the movie is directed by Advait Chandan and stars Zaira Wasim as the lead. Aamir has an extended cameo in the same.
When it comes to Golmaal Again, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty collaborate yet again for the fourth installment of the Golmaal franchise.
The cast included the original Golmaal team comprising of Ajay, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu and Shreyas Talpade. Joining the team as new additions are Parineeti Chopra, Tabu and Neil Nitin Mukesh.
Now with two big movies, one wonder who will win the Diwali box office war. We got in touch with trade experts who gave us their BO prediction:
Atul Mohan (Trade Analyst): "It's 2500 screens for Secret Superstar and 3300 screens for Golmaal Again. Golmaal Again looks to be a mass entertainer and the numbers will be huge during Diwali. The first three days, the choice will be Golmaal Again and Secret Superstar will run for a long stretch as compared to Golmaal Again. This is because of the content and the confidence the makers and Aamir Khan have in the movie as the screenings for the movie started from Sunday itself. When you have Aamir attached to the movie you have the confidence that the movie is going to be good. In terms of opening day numbers, Golmaal Again would collect INR 20 crore while Secret Superstar should be around INR 6-7 crore. Secret Superstar is coming on Thursday in limited screens."
Girish Johar (Film Trade Analyst): "Secret Superstar is being opened a day earlier in order to get the required word of mouth. It will start slow but it is banking heavily on word of mouth and content. Golmaal Again, on the other hand, is a big multistarrer franchise film. It will start very huge, it's a mass film. It's a family and comedy entertaining masala genre. The end result depends on what the audience feels and their reactions. But definitely, Golmaal Again will be much bigger than Secret Superstar, in the starting days. The opening day for Secret Superstar should be around 3.5-4 crore. If the content is good and if the audience is liking the film then it has all the potential to double up on Day 2. It has to earn 50 percent more on Day 2. Golmaal Again will be somewhere around 22 crore on Day 1. When it comes to weekend collections of Golmaal Again, it should be crossing INR 65 crore. That is the ideal scenario because the booty on Diwali box office's of the audiences is huge for the cinema and the producers to grab."
Final Outcome: While Golmaal Again will have a huge opening day and weekend, content and word of mouth will prove king for Secret Superstar.
