She is the daughter of a Punjabi mother and a Maharashtrian Christian father and is often mistaken for a foreigner due to her western first name. She did her schooling from St. Xavier’s High School Mumbai, and her graduation in Bachelor in commerce from K.J Somaiya Junior College of Science & Commerce, Mumbai. She started her career as a child artist at the age of 10 with the film ‘Akele Hum Akele Tum’. After that, she was featured in the film ‘Raja ki Aaegi Barat at the age of 12, and Kuch Naa Kaho at the age of 14. As an adult artist, she started her television career with the popular serial Kasauti Zindagi Ki. She has also worked in Kahin Toh hoga, Dil Mil Gaye, Saraswatichandra, Beyhadh, Bepanaah, and many more TV serials. She has worked in reality shows as well. She was married to Karan Singh Grover in 2012, but after 2 years of their marriage, the couple took divorce with mutual understanding in the year 2014. UK-based newspaper Eastern Eye placed her in their 50 Sexiest Asian Women list in 2012. She was included in the Television's Top 10 Actresses list by Rediff. She was then listed among the 35 Hottest Actresses in Indian Television by Mens XP. She was ranked first in Times of India's Top 20 Most Desirable Women on Indian Television 2017. She was placed at the 13th position in Eastern Eye's Sexiest Asian Women List 2018. She is one of Indian Television's highest-paid actresses.
