EXCLUSIVE: Ritvik Arora talks about Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke, his bond with Shaheer Sheikh and more
Ritvik Arora, who will soon be seen in Yeh Rishta Kya Khlata Hai's spin-off, gets candid about the character, how did the show happen to him, and a lot of other things.
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is all set to see a spin-off in the form of Shaheer Sheikh and Rhea Sharma starrer Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke. The show has been in the news for quite some time now, and ever since the makers released the first promo starring Rhea. The team along with producer Rajan Shahi is currently shooting in Bhuj, and a couple of pictures of the same have been doing the rounds on social media. Also a part of the show will be none other than Tu Aashiqui actor Ritvik Arora, who will be playing the younger brother to Shaheer's character.
When asked how did the show happen to him, and his excitement regarding the same, Ritvik quipped, "Because it was a legacy of 10 years, so they loved Hina Khan as Akshara, and Naitik (Karan Mehra), and everyone was so connected and everything. I got a call from the creatives to audition for the show and I was so excited because in my real life I have never had any sibling who is elder to me, I am the eldest one. And so at one point, it gets boring, because you are always the prodigy and a role model for someone to look up to. It is just not fun you know, so I was like I have got a chance to play the younger brother and that too with a big big name like Shaheer Sheikh, so obviously, that got me really excited. Also, the production house (Directors Kut) has such a great reputation in the industry so it did not take much to say yes." 
Ritvik made his debut as a lead with the Jannat Zubair Rahmani starrer show, and will now be playing the second lead. Asked if he had any apprehensions being relegated to a second lead, he said, "Honestly, I don't believe in tags, they do exist obviously, but I am not really fond of them. I believe the role is to be played with honesty and with your full heart. For me, it is never about a big or small role, if I am getting to play the younger sibling, so it's okay. Because I am not in this business for all of that, and I am really young and it is more about learning for me. So for me, it is all a win win for me. I am getting to work with the best production house, I am getting to work with a show that has a legacy of 10 years, and plus I am learning from Shaheer sir and so many matured actors."

Asked about his bond with Shaheer, he said, "It is great, I mean Shaheer and I have bonded so well off-screen, and we are really getting into the brother zone. He is very supportive, and he is very extrovert kind of guy, though he isn't like that with the media, but to me, he is the elder brother, and he is always helping me out. He is getting to know me and telling me about himself as well, so it is all fun."
Talking about his character, he revealed, "The two brothers are completely opposite and contrast to each other. While one is very mischievous, the other is the responsible one. He is always tucked in, and suited up. He doesn't mind much, he is not dull at all, and tries to connect everyone in the family. Basically, he is the bridge between the family. He is like the one who is the youngest and most loved, how the youngest of the families always are."
