- Biography: Tabu Fatima Hashmi is an Indian actress and due to her critically acclaimed movies, the actress has been conferred the National Film Award for Best Actress twice, Maachis and Chandni Bar and in 2011, Tabu was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India. Born on 4 November 1971, Tabu is the daughter of Jamal Hashmi and Rizwana. After graduating from St. Xavier’s College, she did a small appearance in the film Bazaar. Thereafter, Tabu appeared in a number of movies such as Saajan Chale Sasural, Jeet, Hum Saath Saath Hai, Border, Here Pheri, and Astitva, among others. Besides Hindi movies, Tabu has also acted in English, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, and Bengali language films. In 2007, Tabu debuted in the Hollywood movie Namesake, directed by Mira Nair. In 2012, Tabu featured in her second Hollywood movie Life of Pi. Due to her reluctance to discuss her personal life, Tabu is often tagged as a recluse by the media.
