Khandaani Shafakhana Box Office Collection Day 3: Sonakshi Sinha starrer mints THIS amount on first Sunday

Sonakshi Sinha starrer comedy drama Khandaani Shafakhana hit the theatres last week on Friday, August 2. The film also features Varun Sharma and Badshah. Directed by debutante director Shilpi Dasgupta, it also stars Annu Kapoor and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in vital roles. Sonakshi essayed the role of a Punjabi girl from Hoshiyarpur in the film. She tries to balance her love for her family with her own dreams. The film received mixed reviews but has not been doing well at the box office.

Khandaani Shafakhana had a very poor weekend and registered under Rs 3 crore nett and is not doing good business at the box office. The film managed to mint Rs 1.25 crore nett on Sunday, but that hardly mattered. Sonakshi Sinha starrer is facing tough competition from Disney's The Lion King and Hrithik Roshan's Super 30.

The film is all about the taboos around sex. In a recent interview with PTI, Sonakshi said that it's a good change that a female is leading such film, as males led these topics in the past. She said, "In the film, my character struggles to thwart the social stigma and ignorance about sex in a small town. We have always had male protagonists in such films. I feel happy that I am the flag bearer in terms of the subject - running a sex clinic in a film."
