EXCLUSIVE: Tusshar Kapoor - I didn't show Laksshya's face before because I was very superstitious
Tusshar Kapoor gets candid on his son Laksshya's first birthday in an exclusive interview.
Tusshar Kapoor is on cloud nine. His son Laksshya Kapoor celebrates his first birthday today. Naturally, the single father is ecstatic and is gearing up for the 'little playdate' he has organized for his son's birthday celebration today.
Ahead of the party, we caught up with the new daddy in tinsel town. Ask Tusshar how has the first year with his son Laksshya gone by and he says, "Yeah I am very ecstatic. Time really flew by. I have lived the journey that he has gone through and have enjoyed all the milestones. I have seen every change and movement of his and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable journey."
Since Tusshar has been a single parent, is it more of a responsibility to be a father and the actor explains, "I don't know what it is to be sharing the responsibility because I am doing everything myself. To me, it all feels normal and it is a part of the process. Not at all a burden because I enjoyed every bit of it. I guess I am cut for it. I did it at the right time since I always wanted to have a child. I was mentally prepared for it. I have not married so I don't know what it is like.. But I don't miss it or else I would have left a lot of responsibilities on my wife and then I wouldn't be able to enjoy what I am doing now. I am happy with the way I have made my own family. It has been a great journey."
He adds, "I became a father at 39 and thus I had the maturity to handle it. When you are married, the husband has a responsibility to his wife. They have to balance things like family, in-laws etc. I don't have all of that. It is lighter for me but since I am a single parent, the other responsibilities are more. I think eventually it comes down to the same thing. I am not a party animal so for me to get up early for my child is not a big burden."
Now that he has been a father for a year now, probe him what changes has fatherhood brought in him and Tusshar exclaims, "My life has changed for the better. It has become more sorted. When I am not working, there is so much to do now than doing nothing. I have become more organized and I feel more confident because I have some purpose now. Just generally more mature and ready to make sacrifices and that comes naturally because your child becomes your priority. That selflessness comes inside you because your child comes before you. And I have become calmer because there is only one focus now."
At a time when stars don't shy away from sharing pictures of their babies on social media, Tusshar chose to not willingly share pictures of his son. Ask him if it was a conscious thing and he says, "I never showed his face initially and I always hid it. It is okay if people see it now but I was very superstitious before. I didn't want to expose him till he is one. Today I will click a lot of pictures and share on social media."
Quiz Tusshar what are the special plans for tonight and the daddy gushes, "It is a small get-together. It is like a small playdate for kids. Children of my friends are coming. There are some games and all. I thought about the party from Laksshya's point of view. I wanted it to be small so that he enjoys it. I am not having a big bash like it is reported. It is simple, soft and a cute birthday party."
Given that Tusshar shares a good equation with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karan Johar, we wonder if their babies - Taimur Ali Khan, Yash and Roohi Johar respectively will attend the party and Kapoor concludes, "Karan's babies are too small so they cannot attend. They are just a few months old. But Kareena is invited. I don't know though if she is going to make it or not. Taimur is only six months old so she had told me she will see how it goes. With such a small child they don't want to exert him."
