EXCLUSIVE: Kareena Kapoor Khan's role to be taken forward in the Hindi Medium franchise, REVEALS Dinesh Vijan
Ending all speculations, producer Dinesh Vijan has confirmed that Kareena Kapoor Khan will not only play a cop in Angrezi Medium, but she will also be a recurring character in the franchise.
Kareena Kapoor Khan is definitely someone who has proved the usual (and extremely sexist!) Bollywood adage - married heroines aren't bankable - wrong. In fact, post her marriage to Saif Ali Khan and delivering her son Taimur Ali Khan, she has tasted even more success. The Bollywood diva, who delivered a sleeper hit with Veere Di Wedding last year, has wrapped up work on Good News opposite Akshay Kumar. Now, she's all set to kickstart her next project - Angrezi Medium.
Amid several speculations about her joining the cast of the second instalment in the franchise, producer Dinesh Vijan has confirmed the news exclusively to Pinkvilla. The film-maker who has backed successful content-driven movies like Stree and Hindi Medium reveals, "Kareena is a great addition to our franchise! Angrezi Medium is a very special film, and I’m excited that she's going to be a part of it."
In Angrezi Medium, her role is special and pivotal to the film's narrative. Says a source, "Bebo loved the script and the idea. Hers is a character that will return in the next instalments too. She isn't romantically paired opposite Irrfan. Her character is a bit serious, but the situations in the film she's part of are hilarious. So it has a comical undertone to it." 
Dinesh agrees, "We wanted to introduce her character (with Angrezi Medium) who would be taken forward in the franchises to come and she’s perfect for it. Here, she plays a cop, a role she has actually never done before! We will be shooting in London this June and it will be great to be back on set with her." The film also stars Radhika Madan and has already gone on floors.
