EXCLUSIVE: Sudha & Narayana Murthy’s biopic likely to start this year; Viswanathan Anand film to roll in 2022
Producer Mahaveer Jain reveals that the script of Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy’s biopic is almost ready, while Viswanathan Anand’s story is being developed by Ssanjay Tripaathy
2021 can be a year of biopics as multiple real-life stories are scheduled to hit the theatres this year. Beginning with Kabir Khan’s ‘83 to Thalaivi, Shabaash Mithu and Sardar Udham, audiences are waiting to see these films on the big screen. Now, Pinkvilla has a new update on two more exciting biopics which are in the works. Both produced by Mahaveer Jain, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari will helm the inspiring story of India’s first IT couple NR Narayana Murthy (Infosys co-founder) and Sudha Murthy (philanthropist-author). While Aanand L Rai will direct a film on chess legend, Viswanathan Anand.
A source close to the development informs that the Murthy couple’s biopic is likely to roll this year and both the films will feature A-list actors. Shedding some more light on these two films, Jain says, "I’m happy to share that the script of the biopic on Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy is almost ready. It’s being penned by Nitesh Tiwari, Piyush Gupta and Shreyas Jain who have written Dangal, while the initial research and development was done by Ssanjay Tripaathy. We aspire to narrate their journey in a way that people will connect with it and get deeply inspired too. It would be directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari.” 
On August 20 last year, Ashwiny had even wished Narayana Murthy on his birthday. She wrote on Instagram, “‘In the fullness of time, when it is our turn to give, it behooves us in turn to plant gardens that we may never eat the fruit of, which will largely benefit generations to come.’ Happy Birthday Dear Narayan Murthy Sir. Thank-you for inspiring with your vision that becomes a way of life for us. Of goodness, simplicity, integrity, respect and honesty.” Check out the post:
Meanwhile, Jain adds that work on the biopic of Viswanathan Anand has also started. “The story is being developed by Ssanjay Tripaathy while Aanand L Rai will direct the film. This one will roll next year. Mr Narayan Murthy, Mrs Sudha Murthy and Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand are iconic personalities of India and we are extremely humbled to have the opportunity to make films on their incredible journey that inspires the world,” the filmmaker signs off.
