However, Neeraj Pandey confirms that he has locked the final draft of the period drama, and he will move onto the prep this Summer. “It’s likely to go on the floors towards the end of this year and we are getting into hardcore prep in the next couple of months. Hopefully, we will start shooting by end of year,” Neeraj confirms. The filmmaker had revealed that the second season of his Special Ops franchise will go on the floors around January 2021.

One wonders, how would he juggle between the two ambitious projects and he explains, “Shivam (Nair) and I co-direct the first season and there will be another team on Special Ops 2. That doesn’t matter, the things will work out.” From 2018 till date, multiple period drama’s have been made which includes, the highest grosser of 2020 was Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, a period drama, featuring Ajay in lead.

Neeraj is known to bring a distinct touch to his story telling. Speaking of the treatment to the story of Chankaya, he says, “It can’t be explained, you will have to see and get the nature of what we are attempting over here. It’s very difficult to put it in words as to this is how I am going to make Chanakya. There is a team that has been working on it for last two years. We have followed a process for a couple of years and the process is very shortly going to translate on the screen.”
