EXCLUSIVE: Vikram Singh Chauhan talks about working with Gul Khan, Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka, stereotypes & more

The promo of Gul Khan's upcoming show Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka's promo was unveiled just a day ago, and well, all the suspense around the show finally came to an end. Gul was sharing pictures of Vikram Singh Chauhan at work since the past couple of days, and fans couldn't help but wait for further details, and well, everything has now been revealed. Opposite Vikram, we will see Kaleerein star Aditi Sharma, and the two will be coming together for the very first time.

We decided to have a fun chat with Vikram, where he got talking about how did the show happen and how has it been working on it so far, about working with Aditi and many other things that fans might be keen on knowing about the show. In an EXCLUSIVE chat with Pinkvilla, the actor got candid and well, he sure did have a lot to say. Without further adieu, let's get to the interview and know more about the show.

How excited are you to work with Gul Khan (ma'am) since she has been instrumental in giving so many hit shows?

Smiling us. I found the better one @gulenaghmakhan. ..#onsetlife .

She’s the Bhansali of Indian television. Who wouldn’t be excited to work with her! The grandeur of her shows is to a different level altogether. Huge sets, you get to wear the best costumes, unbelievable treatment of shots and what an amazing team to work with. It’s already larger than life kinda feeling here. Gul and I have been wanting to work together since a long time and finally, we are on the same page for this particular project and as of now, I am loving the magic (reel and real) happening on sets.

The show deals with the supernatural genre in many aspects, and that has become a thing on Indian television, what do you think about that and the genre working well?

This is a magical show with a beautiful Love story. A fantasy show where there’ll be fairies, lots of magic, and a romantic journey of a prince and princess. I wouldn’t call this a horror or supernatural show. You’ll get the feel of a Disney show in this one! We are trying to create a fantasy based show which will be remembered for long.

You will be paired up with Aditi Sharma, how is it working with her?

She’s is the character she’s playing in real life too; such a warm and lively personality. I am extremely happy to share screen space with her!

The show is looking at a prime time slot, which means you are looking at big numbers.

I would be lying if I say TRPs don’t matter to me. They boosts confidence of an actor and the entire unit. So numbers are important!

A consecutive supernatural show, do you think you might get stereotyped in picking up shows?

आयना ऐसा बना ऐ खुदा, इंसान का चेहरा नहीं उसका किरदार दिखायी दे #questforcharacter

When I started my acting career, I did cameos in daily episodics and I was told by people don’t do that since you’ll never be able to make it on mainstream roles and get stereotyped. The actor in me refused to believe it and I got my first mainstream lead role in a leading channel on Indian television. Then I started auditioning for movies and web, I was told I am too exposed to TV and it is difficult to make it to other platforms, something I refused to believe and my efforts gave me two films with biggest producers in the film industry, one being with YRF. And then, a beautiful hit web series. So I’ll always refuse to believe that I’ll be stereotyped ever because as long as I give my heart, soul, blood, and sweat when the camera is rolling, I’ll never get stereotyped. I’ll only grow with every new project I do because i go all in!

Your co-stars have received backlash ever since your pairing worked with Shivani Surve, what difference do you think does your pairing with Aditi has to offer?

There are numerous fan pages of Dovik and Sharanya and Vyom. It’s understandable that few people who saw me with Shivani wouldn’t accept me with anyone else and some who saw me with Donal wouldn’t want to see me paired elsewhere. This is a chain and I am not worried about it. The family of fans I have will keep growing with every project. Some will stay, some will move on. It’s difficult to please all!

What newness are the fans expecting with this show as far as your role is concerned?

Another character which I’ll play with utmost sincerity with greed to win their hearts!
