Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai becomes the longest running Hindi GEC on Indian television. The show produced by Rajan Shahi has completed 11 years of shooting and has created history with the milestone they have achieved. On this occasion, we exclusively spoke to Rajan Shahi who couldn't stop beaming with the success of his team. Chatting with us, Shahi got candid about various things including Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan taking over the show smoothly, the team effort which went behind all these years, his role as a producer and not to forget, fans being disappointed with Hina Khan's name not given in credits. Without further ado, read the excerpt from the interview:

3000 episodes! It is a landmark for Indian TV and you as well. When the show started back in 2009, did you ever imagine this?

When we started the show, everyone was very positive about it. YRKKH from its inception has had a magical run. The show opened to a record-breaking number of 5.6 TRP. But, of course, we have had our share of ups and downs. Officially, we have received an official notice to culminate the show almost 2-3 times, but there is something very blessed about the show, whenever we get a notice, the show's TRP shoots up.

Where did this idea of YRKKH stem from?

Actually, the idea for the show came from Star Plus. What was amazing was that at that the dramatic shows were on air but YRKKH came as a breath of fresh air where everyone spoke about relationships, marriage, simplicity,, the nuances of moments and more.

Biggest challenge you face as a producer?

My biggest task over the years has been keeping the team bonded. The team is made up of really talented people who all come with their own ideas and thoughts. But sometimes they might disagree. To keep the morale high and to make each one of them believe that it is not my or their show, it is 'our' show has been my biggest contribution, I feel.

Hypothetically, if there is any issue between team members, what is your approach to resolve it?

They are all very possessive about YRKKH; they think so much about it. When it becomes their journey, my job becomes nil. I have to be a balancing factor between them; I think a good leader and producer is not someone who only signs the cheque, he or she should be able to keep the synergy of the team going. A lot of times, if actors don't want to work with each other, there will be issues, I have to keep myself as a binding factor amongst these crazily talented people.

One scene which left you gutted?

There are too many but the scene when Swarna thinks Naira is responsible for her son's death. I just spoke to them a bit and I think the whole moment which was created there was brilliant. YRKKH is a complete package. Every moment is brilliant.

Faces have changed, what continues is the legacy. When Hina Khan left the show, was it a difficult time for the show?

Yeh Rishta has had a lot of phases where we have felt that this is the end. But by god's grace, things have always worked out. There is something about the honesty and hard work people put in that things always work out. I have learnt that no one person makes a show and no one is bigger than the show. Of course, it was a difficult time for the show... there was a lot of history, water has flown and I don't think today on this happy occasion we should talk about that. We took it as a drive then and hats off to Kartik and Naira aka Mohsin Khan and Shivangi Joshi, I think we are very happy and blessed to have them.
