EXCLUSIVE: Tara Sutaria reveals she struggles to fit in at Bollywood parties; watch video
For someone who's a rank outsider and still a part of a big filmy camp, Tara explains how difficult it was for her to fit in and feel accepted by actors, who have always been a part of the same circle.
Tara Sutaria has slowly and steadily turned out to be one of the most popular and sought after newcomers on the block today. After Student Of The Year 2 and now, Marjaavaan releasing this Friday, the actress will be seen next year opposite Ahan Shetty in Tadap. Among the many starlets that have made their way to the fraternity this year, she's one who doesn't have a lineage to fall back on.
Tara is a rank newcomer and has made it without any piggybacking. Although she has starred in a Disney show, it was much later that she met Karan Johar. But despite being part of the Dharma gang, she feels she doesn't feel at ease at filmy parties. "Yes, I struggle all the time. It's been happening since I as a kid. I have a twin sister who's very different and she's comfortable around people. I'm really shy and awkward. I never used to go to parties while growing up because I was so so scared. Certain experiences stay with you. You put me on stage, I'm myself. But at a party, I'm awkward. There's nothing wrong with that. But I know a lot of people do," says Tara.

She adds, "When you don't know people or not grown up around people, it can be a little overwhelming. I know of people who have said things like, 'She speaks so properly, she's sitting so properly. That's how I was raised. If anyone has an issue, I can't do anything about it."
