The Lion King Box Office Collection India Day 17: Disney's film records growth on third weekend

The Disney's live action drama The Lion King hit the theatres more than two weeks ago in India and got a fabulous response from the audience. The film has been directed by Jon Favreau and is produced by Karen Gilchrist, Jeffrey Silver and Jon Favreau. The iconic classic narrates the story of Simba, a young lion who has to succeed his father, Mufasa, as the King of the Pride Lands.

According to BOI, The Lion King saw a good growth over the weekend for the third time as it recorded a third weekend of Rs 11.50 crore nett. This takes the business of the film to a total of Rs 137 crore nett. The film is expected to reach the Rs 150 crore mark in the next weekend. In Hindi language, Total Dhamaal did Rs 150 crore nett and Kesari was Rs 151 crore nett. It will be tough to mint after the big releases on Independence Day.

The English star cast of the movie includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, James Earl Jones as Simba's father Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor voices Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi and JD McCrary dubs for the young cub Simba. The Hindi version has Shah Rukh Khan as Mufasa, Aryan as as Simba, Ashish Vidyarthi as Scar, Shreyas Talpade as Timon, Sanjay Mishra as Pumbaa and the legendary actor Asrani as Zazu.
