The year 2019 has seen some exciting movies at the box office so far. Not just Bollywood, but it has been a great run for Hollywood movies as well like The Lion King and Avengers: Endgame. Filmmakers have cashed in on the big opportunity of Independence Day this year with films like Mission Mangal and Batla House releasing for the Hindi audiences. The Tamil audiences were also in for a treat as Jayam Ravi's light-hearted romantic comedy Comali released.
Director Quentin Tarantino's big budget film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood also made its way to the screens on the national holiday. While some of these have performed decently at the box office, films like Mission Mangal has seen a stellar run so far grossing over Rs 100 crore. Let's take a look at how the films have performed so far:
Mission Mangal
Starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Vidya Balan, Nithya Menen, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi and Kirti Kulhari, the film which revolves around ISRO's Mars mission has been loved by audiences all over. It, however, opened to mixed reviews from critics. Mission Mangal cruised past the Rs 50 crore mark effortlessly and is now closer to the 100 crore club. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 97.56 crore making it the highest Sunday collection for any movie this year. 
Batla House
The John Abraham starrer has faced a stiff competition from Mission Mangal but maintained to be steady on the first weekend. The action thriller is nowhere near Mission Mangal's box office numbers but has so far managed to rake in a total of Rs 45.50 crore at the domestic box office.
Comali
Jayam Ravi's Comali has proved to be a hit down south since its release on I-Day. As per reports, Jayam has scored a hat-trick with this film as he earlier delivered back to back hits with Tik Tik Tik and Adanga Maru. In Tamil Nadu, Comali has turned out to be the biggest Independence Day earner. It has also slowed down Ajith's Nerakonda Paarvai. The romantic comedy has so far earned over Rs 18 crore nett and had the biggest opening weekend in the southern state.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
While this thriller drama's domestic box office numbers are not much to write home about, the film has raked in an impressive USD 180 million approximately so far at the worldwide box office. According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the film will likely end up being the second-biggest movie of Tarantino's career behind Django Unchained at the worldwide box office. With the overseas releases like India just beginning to gather steam, the film will continue to break records at the global box office.
